SmartTrak Sorting System

SDIGroup UK's innovative SmartTrak system provides a creative solution for directing hanging garments and trolleys through your distribution centre with a high level of accuracy. Through the use of RF technology we have eliminated the expensive and cumbersome mechanical pin reader system with a small programmable computer chip (tag) and an inexpensive antenna.

Each trolley is embedded with a read/write tag and an antenna-enabled switch is installed at each switching location.

Targeting the trolley to its destination within the DC can be achieved by using either a hand-held RF terminal or with a touch screen. Using the terminal, the operator sets the destination simply by keying in the desired location and pressing the ‘enter’ button on the terminal while pointing it at the trolley. Now programmed, the trolley can be inducted randomly on to an overhead garment conveyor.

The touch screen option gives a rich graphical user interface to the SmartTrak system, which can be customised to represent the layout of your facility, enabling visual identification of internal locations (e.g. Aisles 1-20). The operator simply presses the desired address on the touch screen and the system automatically programs one or more trolleys with the desired address and releases them into the garment conveyor.

When the trolley comes into range of a drop lane antenna, the destination is read from the tag and if the destination code of the tag matches the destination code of the antenna the switch is opened for the trolley to be diverted to the destination location.
